Per AS, Nico Williams could opt to stay back at Athletic Club for one more season as his move to Barcelona seems unlikely. The Spain international has been linked with a move to the Catalan club throughout the summer, however, the Blaugrana have now reportedly given up on their transfer pursuit.

The report further claims that the player's family and Athletic Club are putting pressure on him to stay back for at least one more season and therefore a section of the Barcelona officials are convinced that the transfer won't take place this summer.

If the club miss out on signing Williams in the end, they have already identified his replacement as they look to rope in another Spain international Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. The attacking midfielder reportedly wants to move to Catalonia and based on that, the club have initiated talks with the Bundesliga side.
