Costa Rica has concluded its search for a new coach and after considering several options, and they have finally chosen Miguel Herrera to lead their process towards the 2026 World Cup.

Through a statement, the Costa Rican Football Federation welcomed Herrera as coach, where his main task will be to lead the 'Ticos' to the 2026 World Cup after not attending Qatar 2022. He beat out his compatriot Ignacio Ambriz, who was also an option for the position.

The new coach of Costa Rica already has experience as a national team manager, as 'Piojo' led Mexico between 2013 and 2015, where he managed the team in tournaments such as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the Copa América, and the Gold Cup.
