Insider drops big Lingard to West Ham news

As per Claret & Hugh, there has been a promising transfer development out of West Ham United involving a long-time target in Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

The Lowdown: West Ham attempts…

The Irons have attempted to sign Lingard multiple times in the last 12 months, knowingly making moves in the last two transfer windows.

Lingard rejected West Ham and manager David Moyes’ advances last summer, opting to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford, but a lack of game time then prompted the England international to consider his future away from The Red Devils.

Newcastle and GSB returned for the attacker in January but neither side could get a deal done in the final stretch of the window.

As such, Lingard now looks set to leave as a free agent later this year with club insider C&H now sharing a promising update on West Ham’s pursuit of the player.

The Latest: C&H share news…

According to their sources, West Ham are ‘confident’ of sealing a summer move for the 29-year-old and believe they’re in the ‘box seat’ to sign him ahead of Newcastle.

It is also believed that manager Moyes remains seriously keen on signing his former star who lit up the London Stadium on loan during the second half of 2020/2021.

The Verdict: Get it done…

For no outrageous loan fees to consider, or Man United standing in the way of West Ham, sealing Lingard on a free deal is surely a no-brainer for the summer.

The Three Lions ace has proven Premier League quality and, according to ex-England number one Paul Robinson, could add a ‘different dimension’.

Indeed, the former Spurs goalkeeper insists that he would be a ‘massive signing’ who could ‘galvanise the fans’ (Football Insider) – with his nine goals and four assists at West Ham last year coming as real evidence of that.

As West Ham believe they’ve entered pole position, this could come as a really promising development.
