The 27-year-old has not featured for the Red Devils since December 12, missing their last nine matches in all competitions after being dropped by coach Ruben Amorim. The forward has declared himself ready for a "new challenge" amid reports of a January move, with AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona all touted as possible destinations.

However, his hopes of escaping his United nightmare this month have not yet been realised and he could end up staying at Old Trafford until the end of the season. With that scenario in mind, the England international has started putting in extra work to ensure he will be ready to give 100 per cent should Amorim call him back into action, and report.

Amorim gave a rather dismal assessment when he was asked about the prospect of Rashford returning to the fold, saying after the 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton on Sunday: "It is his choice [not to play]… No matter what, I am not going to put out a player I don’t believe is the best for the team."
